Welcome to the first ever Week (end) ahead! Each week we’ll be giving all of the family a rundown of what’s coming up in the world of NRG Esports. We’ll also give you some insight into what gets the players excited to play, players to watch, and what you can expect from the #NRGFAM in upcoming tournaments.

UGC Smash Open

NRG Nairo takes to the battlefield in his first National event since The Big House 6 in October! UGC Smash Open is one of the biggest events in the Smash community, bringing the best players from around the globe to St. Louis. The event will feature both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as well as Super Smash Bros Melee.

Aside from our very own Nairo, UGC Smash Open features all the big name Smash 4 stars such as ZeRo, Ally, Mr. R and many others. In addition to all of the Smash veterans, you’ll see a load  of rising stars like Salem and MKLEO . With nearly all of the Top 20 players in the world, according to the Panda Global Rankings, it’s easy to see that this is a crucial tournament for the community

As if the players weren’t reason enough to watch the event, UGC is also posting a $40,000 bonus pot between Melee and Smash 4. Nairo talked about how this is special because “Smash is a game that doesn’t have developer support for tournaments, so prize money is only the entry money players put in usually. It adds an extra layer of legitimacy to both the event and the game’s competitive scene. Players will try even harder to win knowing what’s at stake so it should be very tough.”

The event starts with side events on Friday including a low tier tournament, crew battles and other events. On Saturday, the real competition begins at 10 AM CST with pools for Smash 4 and Melee.

Nairo will be partnered with his unbeatable double’s partner of ZeRo from TSM.. The two have won many doubles tournaments before, so don’t be surprised if they take this one as well! . At 2 PM CST, the Singles pools start and run until around 6PM. Afterwards, the conclusion of the doubles bracket takes place over the following 2 hours. On Championship Sunday from 10 AM to around 12 PM you can watch Smash 4 singles top 32. At 12 PM Melee top 32 takes over. After that at around 4 PM the top 8 starts beginning with Smash 4. There’s guaranteed to be some epic matches between each of the games so tune into all of it if you can.

All the Smash 4 action will be streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/unrivaledtournaments

Now that they have taken first seed, they look to prove that they are really the top NA team and the best in the World. The tournament is double elimination this time but we aren’t looking to drop a single match in the first place!

All the best teams have spent months of the rigorous RLCS regular season and Playoffs preparing for this very tournament. From North America we have our very own NRG Rocket League. Accompanying them are the other 3 top seeds from NA: the very talented Orbit.gg, Genesis, and Take 3! From across the pond the European teams are Flipsid3 Tactics, Northern Gaming, Mockit Aces, and Precision Z. All 8 of these teams have proven that they are the best in the world, and all 8 want to be the one to take home the 1st place prize and $50,000!

Expect constant and routine updates on all things Rocket League from our Social Media accounts as we follow them on their journey to become champions! We will have exclusive streams of us hanging out with the players and everything, so keep an eye on all things NRG for some great behind the scene content..

The battle begins this Saturday, December 3rd when NRG face off against Precision Z, the 4th place seed from Europe at 7 AM EST so set your clocks for an early rise. Europe has long been considered the stronger of the two regions of Rocket League, but NRG are poised to prove that stigma wrong and take home the title. The games are best of 5 up until the finals, so there’s going to be a lot of Rocket League in not a lot of time!

The stream will be on twitch.tv/RocketLeague for every game played and is expected to run until 3 PM EST for the weekend of December 3rd to the 4th
