NRG CS2 IS ON FIRE!

ANOTHER CHAMPS TROPHY FOR NRG CS2

It was another strong week of action for our NRG CS2 team, highlighted by another championship victory in the NA Revival Series!

The team led by star IGL nitr0 were able to defeat the likes of BOSS, Wildcard and Elevate to claim their first gold medal as a newly formed quintet, locking down the grand prize but more importantly a ton of time inside the server to prep them for a busy fall season ahead with Major qualifiers on the horizon.

Against BOSS in the quarterfinals on Saturday, the team made quick work of their opponents and dispatched them in a swift 2-0 fashion with victories on Vertigo (13-5) and Inferno (13-4) to cruise to Sunday’s semi finals matchup. It was the fragging power of Brehze that really helped put NRG over top, racking up a crushing 47 kills across the pair of maps.

In the semifinals against a veteran-led Wildcard roster, NRG were able to strike first with a narrow win on Dust2 by a 13-11 final with Brehze once again leading the way in frags with 19. The veteran Wildcard squad clawed back and took Ancient, 13-11, to send us to a Map 3 on Inferno. A strong first-half attack side called by nitr0 allowed for the team to take an 8-4 advantage at the half, allowing for a weaker defensive half not to deter NRG as they closed out the map and series with a 13-11 victory.

In the grand finals against Elevate, close maps remained the name of the game with a flair for the dramatic, as NRG opened the series strong with another 13-11 victory on Ancient as the duo of nitr0 and Autimatic combined for 47 kills to put the team on championship point. It wouldn’t come easy, however, as Elevate managed to lock down Anubis with a 13-10 map win to force the series decider. It was a final Map 3 on Mirage that separated NRG from the pack, winning 8 of the final 10 rounds and closing out the series with a commanding play by oSee on the AWP.

Keeping that momentum up for ECL play this past Tuesday, NRG were able to take down the side of Revenge Nation in a clean 2-0 sweep with a pair of 13-3 wins on Dust2 and Anubis. These wins propelled NRG to first place in the ECL standings, sitting atop the leaderboard with a 12-2 record overall.

Next up is continued practice for the team before more ECL play later this month along with qualifiers to more Major tournaments this year. REGULAR SEASON FINALE NEXT UP FOR NRG KIA

NRG Kia League of Legends ran into a wall over the weekend against Dignitas, dropping the series 2-0 as LCS Summer Split reaches near the end of the regular season.

Play at the Riot Arena began in relatively strong fashion for NRG Kia, as they saw themselves up in gold differential, dragon objectives slain and towers claimed after 27 minutes of action. However, a costly 4v5 teamfight that went the way of DIG resulted in a complete team wipe of NRG Kia. Looking to be aggressive, Dignitas were able to march down the midlane and destroy the Nexus just as members of NRG Kia began to respawn, moving up in the series with a 1-0 advantage.

In Game 2, NRG Kia struggled to gain positive momentum early on in the match, falling behind in gold and kills before a crushing baron team fight loss at 32 minutes sealed the deal for Dig.

Still in the mix for a Playoff spot, NRG Kia has the opportunity to snap the unbeaten streak of Team Liquid on Saturday, August 10th at 1 PM PT when they close out the regular season before turning their attention to postseason play.

OUR EWC DEBUT FOR NRG

NRG Apex became the first team to represent NRG in the Esports World Cup this past weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia!

Competing in Group B, the trio of Nocturnal, FunFPS and Reptar battled through 10 games and narrowly missed the grand finals cutoff on the final teamfight in the group stage finale. Falling to the last chance qualifier as their last remaining lifeline to make Sunday’s championship finale.

In the last chance qualifier, NRG were able to shine with a Game 5 victory that gave the team a fighting chance to be just one of two final teams to punch their tickets through, but unfortunately were unable to earn enough points to qualify..

Next up for the team is a trip to Mannheim, Germany for the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs which begin August 29th!
