THE BIGGEST RLCS WEEKEND OF THE YEAR

Building on their top-12 finish at the first regional for RLCS Major 2 London, NRG Rocket League were able to secure their spot in the Swiss Stage in regional two knocking down 3 wins to qualify.

The team of GarrettG, Mist and Aqua weren’t particularly challenged until their final last upper bracket matchup in the Round of 32 against none other than Spacestation Gaming. Despite best efforts, the team was unable to gain any momentum in the series, falling 3-0 and dropping into the lower bracket for one final match to qualify for the top-16. Rebounding nicely against ‘Old Heads', the trio was able to secure an easy 3-0 sweep to punch their ticket into another regional live on NRG Mission Control.

Our first round matchup on Friday? You guessed it: SSG. In the five RLCS regionals hosted this year, NRG will have played Spacestation in four of them, unable to crack the code against the opponent in all five total matchups this year. Still, it is anyone’s series to take on any given matchday, and our team won’t go down without a fight! The odds are in our favor, right?

Sitting in 9th Place in the overall NA standings with only four spots to represent NA in the RLCS Major, it’s going to take a solid run late into this weekend to position our team for success on the table. Everything is still up for grabs in what is sure to be our best regional yet!

The Swiss Stage for this weekend’s event is LIVE on NRG Mission Control: Presented by Panda Express, this Friday at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET on the NRG Twitch channel. We need your support! Tune in with the always amazing hosts Jamesbot and Azfura as we #BringTheNRG for our most important weekend of the season!

REGROUP. REBOUND.

Our VCT Americas League season finale was ultimately one to forget, as 100 Thieves were able to knock NRG out of Playoff contention following a 2-0 series defeat.

The team bounced off to a strong start on Map 1 Split, taking a 4-1 lead before trading rounds en-route to a slight 7-5 first half advantage on attack. Known for being a defensive sided map historically, NRG were in a very secure spot to take Map 1, before a flurry of seven-straight round wins from the opposing side quickly saw the team down 12-7 in the blink of an eye. With a 13-8 final going the way of 100T, all momentum in the series swung over to the opposition.

Needing to force a crucial Map 3 for tiebreakers, NRG faced a tall mountain to climb on Bind,  the map on which the team iis not particularly comfortable. Falling down 8-4 in the first half, a second-half pistol round win ultimately narrowed the advantage to just 8-6 before 100T went on to claim six of the final seven rounds of the series. With a 13-7 victory and a 2-0 series sweep, the Thieves were moving on leaving NRG on the outside looking in. Unfortunately for the team due to round differential, the loss officially eliminated them from postseason contention.

While it wasn’t the results we were looking for, our season still has Champions to fight for, and we aren’t going to go down without a fight in the upcoming split. Our team returns to the stage in late June with a banger matchup against Sentinels to kick things off against our Alpha Group opponents. Stay tuned to NRG’s socials for new content as we prep for the offseason training arc to begin!

NRG CS2 CONTINUES TO STAY ON TOP

Monday marked the return of NRG CS2 to the ESL Challengers League stage as the team had a pivotal matchup against fellow top team Party Astronauts in a bid to maintain top-2 status on the season. With a pair of best-of-one matches, NRG were able to split the series evenly 1-1, just the result needed to stay ahead of the competition.

In Game 1 on Nuke, the t-side attack rounds proved difficult to get anything started on, capturing only a pair of rounds before falling by a 13-7 final scoreline. The story was much different on Ancient, however, with the team able to commit to site plants and effectively clear space behind the fragging power of HexT, who led the team with 19 kills. NRG were able to earn a decisive 13-6 victory on Ancient, splitting the series evenly and remaining solidly in the all important top two on the ECL table.

The team also added one round to their league-leading round differential which stands at +79. Ultimately, this showing proved that NRG CS2 are poised for the ECL Playoffs which are only a few short weeks away. With two spots up for grabs in the ESL Pro League, it’ll be crucial to close out the regular season on a strong note.

This weekend NRG CS2 will be participating in the David’s Cup Invitational, hosted by Nouns Esports. This tournament will remember cynic, a former CS2 player who passed away earlier this year. We couldn’t be more honored to participate in an event to memorialize David, as we are set to take on BOSS beginning Saturday at 12 PM PT. Be sure to stay tuned to NRG Current for all the match updates, including stream information, all weekend long!
