RISING UP

NRG CS2 - Big Strides in Stockholm

NRG CS2

The NRG CS2 team just wrapped up a 2 week stint in Stockholm, Sweden. After a productive 10 day bootcamp, the team made its first appearance at a major LAN event as a roster at the prestigious ESL Pro League Season 21. The squad ended up going 1-3 in the swiss stage of the event, unfortunately bowing out of the tournament, but there were plenty of good takeaways from our time in Sweden.

NRG took down European squad Nemiga, and had extremely close matches with Eternal Fire, Furia (1-2, 11-13, 13-10, 11-13) and GamerLegion (1-2, 13-5, 9-13, 10-13), three of the top teams at the event. It’s safe to say that we had the toughest draw of all the participating teams, and almost pulled out some big upsets vs. top competition. A few decisive rounds going our way would have changed everything, but regardless the team gained tremendous experience that will prove valuable going into IEM Dallas and the Austin Major.

Despite going 1-3, the team gained a large amount of rating points as well, and climbed to #26 in the VRS rankings, putting us in great position for the remainder of the season. The stiff competition and close matches, along with a quality win vs. Nemiga means NRG comes out of EPL net positive in terms of the VRS.

NRG ROCKET LEAGUE - Big Strides in Stockholm

NRG Rocket League

NRG Rocket League headed out to bootcamp in Michigan to practice and play the final Birmingham Open qualifier of the year. Looking to make North American history as the only team to win all three Regional Opens in the same split, the boys ultimately fell short in the semifinals, placing 3/4th. The core of Beastmode, Daniel and Atomic also lost their streak of 11 straight events reaching the grand finals, an incredible achievement that we will likely never see again.

Despite the loss, the team had a productive bootcamp and is feeling motivated going into the first Major tourney of the season in Birmingham. The boys will be heading to the UK a bit early to get adjusted before the tourney, which begins on March 25th!

We also wanted to give a shoutout to Folsom High School for supporting the team all throughout the weekend as we battled through the Birmingham Open.
