NRG CS2 has not missed a beat since qualifying for the Austin Major, winning 8 of its last 9 matches. This past weekend, the team made quick work of 1WIN NA, Marsborne, Bluejays and Nouns to take home the PrizePicks NA Revival Series Championship, for the third time!
Following the revival series win, the team continued to shine, taking down Bluejays, Getting Info and Nouns again, punching our ticket to the Grand Finals of ECL Season 49. On Sunday we’ll look to finish the job as we face off vs. one of Bluejays/Nouns/Legacy for a chance at $25k and a trip back to Stockholm for ESL Pro League Season 22 later this year.
The team has made great strides over the past few months, and we’re ramping up at just the right time to do some major damage at IEM Dallas and the major in May/June.
With Split 1 of VCT 2025 ending in disappointment, changes needed to be made. Our longtime in-game leader, FNS, has decided to step down from competition leaving a big hole in the lineup. In an effort to recapture the spark we had during the offseason, the decision was made to bring back coach Bonkar, in place of Mikes and hand over the IGL’ing duties to our World Champion flex player, Ethan. Ethan’s wealth of experience, along with Bonkar’s talent at developing in-game leaders, should prove to be a winning recipe, and we’re excited to see how this iteration of the team will perform.
Along with the leadership changes in the team, we are bringing in Skuba from Cubert Academy to round out the roster. Skuba has prior experience playing under Bonkar, and is considered one of the top prospects in the Americas region. He has deserved a shot at tier-1 competition for a few years now, so we are thrilled to be able to give him that chance while bolstering our team with young talent for split 2. The team will be in action very soon, with EWC qualifiers coming up next Friday, May 16th.
