Sunday October 5, 2025 - VCT World Championships: NRG vs. Fnatic. The entire Accor Arena was cheering against NRG, favoring their fellow Europeans, Fnatic. Only 3.9% of fans predicted NRG to win Valorant Champions 2025 in their Pick'Ems. Even fewer believed they would go undefeated throughout the entire tournament. Against all odds, NRG are your 2025 WORLD CHAMPIONS. Six up, six down, FLAWLESS!
NRG entered VCT Champs as underdogs, but it quickly became apparent that they were the team of destiny. The team confidently marched through the entire event, first taking down EDG and then DRX in the group stage. In the first round of the playoff bracket, GX was no match, followed up with a close victory vs. MIBR. In the Upper Bracket Finals, they convincingly took down Fnatic. And finally, the Grand Finals, in a rematch to decide it all, NRG conquered the world taking down Fnatic once more with a thrilling 3-2 scoreline.
The Grand Finals started out with two dominant map wins for NRG (Corrode: 13-3, Lotus: 13- 6). Only needing one more map win to finish the job, NRG raced to an 11-1 defensive side advantage on Abyss, seemingly securing the world championship. In what will go down as the greatest single map comeback in VCT International history, Fnatic was able to fight all the way back to win Map 3 in overtime. With a convincing win on Map 4, Ascent, it seemed like Fnatic was poised to reverse sweep NRG and break our hearts.Â
Everything came down to the final map, Sunset, a battleground neither team has had much success on this year. An inspirational speech from s0m with support from Coach Bonkar was the turning point for NRG. In the do or die map 5, NRG shut down any hope of a reverse sweep. Heroics from team captain Ethan propelled NRG to a comfortable 13-5 victory, etching our name in the history books. Ethan, mada, s0m, skuba and brawk, along with coaches Bonkar and Strong are your 2025 WORLD CHAMPIONS.Â
This was the culmination of a five year journey for NRG in VALORANT. Millions watched as we lifted our first International trophy, on one of the biggest stages in all of esports. The entire organization could not be more proud of the entire team, coaches and staff that made this happen. With two World Championships in less than one month, it’s safe to say this is the best stretch in NRG’s storied competitive history. Time to celebrate.Â
